Protocol & Ecosystem Participation

The Afyniti world grows as new ecosystems and locations are added.

This section explains how cities and locations appear, how quests are introduced, and how participation is managed over time, without changing how progression works for you.

Adding New Cities

New ecosystems enter Afyniti as new cities.

When a city is added, it brings:

  • A distinct layout and visual identity

  • Its own onboarding experience

  • A set of locations and quests tied to that ecosystem

Cities are added gradually to ensure stability and clarity. Not every ecosystem appears at once, and the world expands in stages rather than all at once.

Who Decides What Appears in a City

Each city has defined boundaries.

The ecosystem represented by a city determines:

  • Which locations appear within it

  • Which protocols are available

  • How access and onboarding are structured

This allows each city to remain coherent rather than becoming an unstructured collection of unrelated locations.

Locations and Quest Availability

Locations within a city represent individual protocols, products, or services.

Each location controls:

  • Which quests are available

  • When quests unlock or refresh

  • How progression within that location is tracked

Quest availability may change over time as ecosystems evolve, but progression rules remain consistent across the platform.

Managed and Unmanaged Locations

Some locations are added with full support and structure from the beginning. Others appear more gradually.

This does not affect how quests work or how XP is earned. It only affects how quickly locations are populated and how much content is available at launch.

From your perspective, locations either unlock or they do not. The underlying process remains invisible.

Ecosystem-Level Controls

Cities may apply ecosystem-wide rules.

These can include:

  • Entry requirements

  • Progression gates

  • Location approval processes

These controls shape how the city evolves but do not override core Afyniti systems. XP, levels, and progression rules remain the same across all cities.

Why Participation Is Structured This Way

This structure exists to protect continuity.

By controlling how cities and locations are introduced, Afyniti avoids fragmentation, overcrowding, and unclear progression paths. It also allows ecosystems to grow at their own pace without disrupting the wider world.

For you, this means:

  • Cities feel intentional rather than rushed

  • Locations unlock with context

  • Progression remains consistent even as the world expands
