Progression & XP
Progression in Afyniti is built around one core idea: what you do matters, and it keeps mattering.
Everything you unlock, every level you gain, and every reward you become eligible for is tied to XP earned through real action. There are no shortcuts and no passive accumulation. Progression is your personal affinity you build with the dApps and ecosystems within Afyniti.
Earning XP
XP can be earned by completing quests.
Every quest represents a real action, whether that action happens on-chain, within a product, or through participation in a wider ecosystem. When a quest is completed, XP is awarded and attributed to you.
There are no background rewards, no idle gains, and no inflation through inactivity. If XP exists, it is because something was done or claimed to earn it.
XP Is Not a Currency
XP in Afyniti is not something you spend.
It cannot be transferred, traded, or used up. Once earned, it becomes part of your permanent record. XP represents your history, your involvement, and your standing across the world.
As you move between cities and locations, your XP moves with you. It does not reset when you change ecosystems, and your total XP does not disappear at the end of a quest or campaign.
Ecosystem XP and Protocol XP
When you complete quests, XP is attributed in two ways:
Ecosystem XP, which reflects your overall progression within a city
Protocol XP, which reflects your activity within a specific location
Both are earned simultaneously but are used differently. Ecosystem XP represents your progression within a city and is used for unlocks and reward calculations at the ecosystem level, while Protocol XP reflects your activity within an individual protocol and contributes to protocol-level reward calculations. This is dependent on the ecosystem or protocol providing a prize pool.
Together, they shape how you progress, what unlocks for you, and how rewards are calculated later on.
Levels and Progression
Your XP determines your level.
Each level requires the same amount of XP to progress, no matter how high your level becomes. Moving from level 1 to 2 takes the same effort as moving from level 100 to 101.
This keeps progression fair and predictable. Progress is about consistency and participation over time, not rushing early and coasting later.
As you level up, new quests, features, and rewards become available. Progression is designed to unfold gradually, revealing more of the world as you advance.
Monthly Progress and Claims
Progression is tracked continuously, but rewards are calculated in cycles.
At the end of each claim period, the number of levels you have gained during that period determines your share of available rewards. If you gain more levels in a given period, your share increases. If you slow down, your share reflects that.
Only XP that has been claimed on-chain counts toward reward calculations. XP that has been earned but not claimed still exists, but it does not contribute until it is locked in.
Claiming XP is a deliberate step. It confirms your progress and ties it directly to your on-chain identity.
Claimed vs Unclaimed XP
XP can exist in two states:
Unclaimed XP, which reflects completed quests waiting to be finalised
Claimed XP, which has been assigned on-chain and counted toward progression and rewards
You can choose when to claim your XP, but you must claim all outstanding XP to complete a level-up. Progress does not partially carry forward. Levels are completed intentionally, not passively.
This keeps progression clean, verifiable, and tied to clear moments of advancement.
Why Progression Works This Way
Progression in Afyniti is designed to feel earned, visible, and continuous.
XP does not exist to be spent. It exists to tell a story about what you have done and where you have been. Levels do not rush you forward. They give structure to your journey.
As you continue through Afyniti, progression becomes less about individual quests and more about the shape of your path through the world.
The next sections explore how quests are structured, how they unlock, and how progression connects into rewards and gear.
