Ecosystems & Cities

Ecosystems in Afyniti are experienced as cities.

Each city represents a distinct ecosystem within the wider Afyniti world. Cities give structure to exploration, provide context for quests, and anchor progression to a sense of place rather than a list of disconnected activities.

Cities as Ecosystems

A city can represent many different kinds of ecosystems, such as a blockchain network, an exchange, a game platform, or a broader digital environment.

Each city has:

  • Its own visual identity and atmosphere

  • A unique onboarding path

  • A dedicated set of quests and locations

New cities are added as new ecosystems become available, expanding the world over time.

Entering a City

You always begin your journey in a home city.

When you enter a new city for the first time, you go through an onboarding sequence designed to introduce the city’s layout, themes, and core mechanics before quests are unlocked.

This ensures each city feels distinct and understandable, even as the number of ecosystems grows.

City Growth and Scale

Cities are not static.

The size and complexity of a city reflect the activity and structure of its ecosystem. Larger ecosystems appear as more expansive cities, with additional districts, locations, and quest paths available.

Smaller ecosystems are presented more compactly, focusing on clarity and accessibility rather than scale.

Locations Within a City

Each city contains multiple locations.

Locations represent protocols, products, or services that belong to the ecosystem. Every location acts as a point of interaction, offering its own quests, progression tracking, and narrative context.

As you progress within a city, new locations become accessible, revealing more of the ecosystem over time.

Travelling Between Cities

You are free to travel between cities at any time.

Travelling allows you to explore new ecosystems, take on different quests, and expand your progression without resetting your identity or XP. Your progress follows you wherever you go.

Each city maintains its own structure and progression gates, but your overall journey remains continuous.

Shared and Neutral Spaces

In addition to ecosystem-specific cities, Afyniti also includes shared spaces.

These spaces act as neutral ground where activities are not tied to a single ecosystem. They support exploration, social interaction, and platform-wide features that apply regardless of where you are in the world.

Shared spaces help connect cities together, making Afyniti feel like a single, coherent world rather than a set of isolated maps.

Why Cities Matter

Cities give meaning to movement and progression.

They turn ecosystems into places rather than abstractions, helping quests, gear, and progression feel grounded. As you move between cities, your journey becomes a map of experiences rather than a checklist of tasks.

The next section explores how rewards and prize pools are structured across ecosystems and seasons.
