Gear, NFTs & Progression
Progression in Afyniti is not only tracked through levels. It is also reflected visually through the gear and NFTs you unlock as you move forward.
These systems exist to make progression tangible and fun. As you advance, your profile changes, your equipment evolves, and your experience becomes visible.
NFTs as Your Persistent Identity
Your presence in Afyniti is anchored to an NFT.
This NFT represents your ongoing identity across ecosystems and seasons. As you earn XP and level up, the metadata associated with your NFT evolves to reflect your progress, achievements, and unlocked features.
Your NFT is not static. It grows and evolves with you.
Unlocking NFT Gear Through Progression
Gear is unlocked as you reach new levels.
Each level introduces the possibility of receiving a new item, distributed across equipment slots such as head, face, back, or other wearable categories. Gear unlocks follow a defined order, ensuring progression feels structured and predictable.
Unlocking gear does not consume XP. Reaching the required level is sufficient.
Gear Rarity
Each item belongs to a rarity tier:
Common
Uncommon
Epic
Legendary
Mythical
Rarity affects how frequently items appear and how distinctive they are. Higher rarity items are less common and more visually distinctive, making them clear markers of progression and luck.
When rare items are unlocked, they stand out as moments of advancement rather than background noise.
Claiming and Equipping Items
When a new item becomes available, your profile displays the option to claim it.
Claiming an item triggers a reveal sequence that shows the possible outcomes before finalising the item you receive. Once claimed, the NFT item can be equipped through your profile.
Equipping an item locks it to your account. While equipped, it cannot be traded or sold. To trade an item, it must first be unequipped.
This ensures that equipped gear always reflects your active progression rather than temporary ownership.
Holding and Trading Gear
You can unlock and hold multiple items of the same type.
Items that are not equipped remain in your wallet and can be traded through supported marketplaces. This allows gear to function both as a progression element and tradable, without undermining the integrity of equipped items.
Visual Progression and Status
Gear and NFTs work together to make progression visible.
As your equipment evolves, your profile reflects your journey through Afyniti. Borders, traits, and equipment combine to show where you have been and how far you have progressed.
Some milestones are intentionally rare and publicly noticeable, reinforcing the sense that progression is earned rather than assumed.
Renaming and Personalisation
NFTs are initially assigned names automatically.
You can choose to rename your NFT through your profile. Renaming updates the on-chain metadata, making the change permanent and visible wherever your NFT appears.
Additional personalisation options unlock over time, allowing your profile to reflect both progression and preference.
Mystery Packs
Items can be bundled together into Mystery Packs.
When items are bundled, the overall rarity of the pack is auto determined by the contents inside. Mystery Packs can then be minted and opened later, traded, or stored.
Mystery Packs also exist within the store, following the same rarity rules as individually unlocked gear.
Why Gear Matters
Gear in Afyniti is not about raw advantage.
It exists to mark progression, personalise identity, and create moments of discovery. Over time, your equipment becomes a visual record of your journey, layered on top of your XP and level history.
The next section explores how ecosystems, cities, and locations bring these systems together into a shared world.
