MediTec was founded when it became clear that the Weave was not merely an environment, but a pressure.
Early exposure incidents were dismissed as psychological fatigue, stress hallucinations, or user error. MediTec proved otherwise. The Weave was exerting structural influence on cognition, creating feedback loops between perception, memory, and reality itself.
The condition would later be classified as Echo Sickness.
Where other institutions attempted suppression or denial, MediTec formalised containment. Their mandate was not exploration, dominance, or belief, but stability.

Echo Sickness is not classified as disease, addiction, or trauma.
It is a state divergence:

The Weave retains the echo
MediTec’s Echo Sickness Program became the backbone of all sanctioned Weave operations. Every later device, protocol, and restriction traces back to this research line.
Two outcomes emerged from the program:
Stabilisation for those already misaligned
Controlled access for those structurally capable
These outcomes became the Echo Buffer and the Meditist Lite.

The Echo Buffer is MediTec’s stabilisation solution.
It does not heal. It reasserts alignment.
By anchoring biological structure to a stable Weave layer, the Echo Buffer suppresses runaway echoes, identity bleed, and temporal drift long enough for extraction or recovery.
MediTec categorises it as emergency medicine. The city treats it as currency.
MediTec neither confirms nor denies the long-term effects of repeated use.
Restricted Cognitive Interface
Where the Echo Buffer suppresses, the Meditist Lite permits.
Developed as an offshoot of Echo Buffer research, the Meditist Lite allows sanctioned access to the Weave through controlled cognitive resonance. It is issued only to users who have demonstrated structural integrity under Weave exposure.
MediTec does not describe the Meditist as enhancement.
They describe it as interference removal.
The device does not create visions, beliefs, or distortions. It clears the channel—and lets the Weave respond.
Regulation & Control
MediTec enforces strict access protocols:
Unauthorized use is criminalised
Distribution is tightly monitored
Alpha-grade devices are traceable
Despite this, both items circulate beyond sanctioned channels.
MediTec does not publicly acknowledge the black market. They adjust dosage tolerances accordingly.

MediTec does not claim ownership of the Weave. They claim responsibility for what happens when minds touch it.
Whether they are caretakers, jailers, or something worse is still debated.
