The Weave

The metaphysical layer of reality, the fabric that can be broken, folded, or sculpted.

The Weave is what some believe to be the hidden fabric of reality. To most inhabitants, it is invisible, the world appears seamless, stable, and natural. But beneath the surface lies a lattice of resonance: a living pattern of perception constantly repaired by an unseen 'firewall' or so the Flowborn call it.

The weave is maintained by this self repairing mechanism, a process of ceaseless patching and smoothing, ensuring no seam remains visible.

Only through sensory shifts, meditation, altered focus, or deliberate disruption can the unprocessed data beneath the surface be even perceived. This act is known as breaking the weave.

Those who learn to interact with the weave can:

Break

Tear rifts to glimpse raw reality, forcing the firewall to reveal itself.

Mechanics

Creates rifts, exposing hidden layers. Always triggers the firewall’s repair protocols.

Patchrunners whisper:

“Every crack is a doorway.”

Cover

Align or bend reality, finding the most favorable resonance without shattering stability.

Mechanics

Subtle bending or alignment of realities; like optimizing perspective or tuning into the best version of the world. Less disruptive, it often escapes the firewall’s detection.

Weavers Teach:

“You don’t strike the weave; you strike through it.”

Sculpt

Shape and mould the weave long-term, creating enduring forms and environments.

Mechanics

Shardwrights’ art of reshaping reality itself, akin to shifting pixels in an image. As long as the “picture” holds, the firewall does not intervene.

Shardwrights Say:

“Do not move the world, fold it.”

Shared belief: Only through the senses can the unprocessed data be revealed. Reason alone reinforces the illusion.

Correlated Visual Symbolic Interpretations of the Adept.

  • Broken weave = glitch static, jagged rifts, leaking light.

  • Folded weave = warped geometry, doubled perspectives, shortcuts through space.

  • Sculpted weave = structures grown from resonance, appearing natural yet otherworldly.

Threads are not literally seen, they are felt, glimpsed as shifts in perception when normal sensory filters quiet.
